Pomegranate ( Punica Granatum) is one of the oldest known fruits, native of Persia, it has been found in writings and artifacts of many cultures dating back 3000 years or more. The fruit, itself, contains a very potent antioxidant called Ellagic Acid, which has a variety of health benefits. These include helping to protect the skin from solar radiation or the appearance of dark spots and inhibiting Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) which are proteins or lipids damaged ( Glycated ) after exposure to sugar. Ellagic Acid has also been found to Increase the body’s own antioxidants such as Glutathione, which protects cells from free radical damage.
