Maca is a root vegetable native to the Peruvian mountains, where it has adapted to the low temperatures and very high altitudes (4000m). For many centuries it has been a central part of local diets in Peru and Bolivia, where almost every part of the plant is used. According to legend, Incan warriors took Maca for strength and endurance before going to battle.
